Deborah Butterfield was the artist that we used as inspiration for this project. She makes Life size horses out of wood and pieces of metal. She was inspired to make horses because she was born on the same day as the 75th running of the Kentucky Derby. We used similar materials as she did, but instead of making horses, we made a shoe. One day during class we went outside and walked through the woods. We picked up leaves, sticks, and other materials you can find out in nature. I found some feathers when I walked through, at first I wasn't sure how I would use them, but I grabbed them just in case I could use them. I found fuzzy stuff on a tree and decided to grab some of that as well. I decided to do a replica of my slipper like shoe. I made a base by laying the sticks vertically and horizontally, using hot glue to stick them together. I used green leaves (not sure what they're called, but they came off of a tree) to make the inside so that it would be solid. Then I use the feathers as the top part of the shoe that covers your feet. Then I took the fuzzy material and put it around the shoe.
