We were inspired by Scott Eagle for this project. He is an artist that uses dreams, and mythology to create artistic pieces of work. He uses a tornado in a couple of his pieces. For this project we had to show some sort of change. We had to switch sketchbooks with a classmate and somehow corporate their sketch into our project. We had to use mix media for this project. My partner sketched a circle with a creepy fingers holding it. I interpreted it as a monster hand squeezing the life out of a sun. I used the bandsaw to cut out my hand and sun shape. Then I carved it down to make the fingers more real looking. For my other material I used oil pastels. I really like oil pastels and we don't really use them in other art classes. I used turpentine to blend the oil pastels and make it look kind of like a painting but with oil pastel instead of paint. For the backboard I used another piece of wood. My line of separation is clearly seen. It separates the vibrant, living sun from the dripping, dying half of the sun. To attach the wood to each other I used wood glue. I really liked having free reign on this project and choosing my materials. I think it's one of the best pieces I've ever done. It's the total opposite from what I usually do and it's amazing that I actually did this and it turned out really good.
