For this project, I decided to do a sunset with the moon phases around the semicircle. This could be anywhere, so in order to represent florida, I split it into sections like an orange wedge. There is subtle differences in the colors so that your eye automatically splits the image up without having actual lines there. I decided to do dark to light inside the semicircle, then on the outside with the phases I did light to dark. This created contrast. I used wood for this project. I carved everything with a dremel tool. It made shallow lines and was a new tool that I got to use. After I painted everything I polyurethaned it. After that dried I stained it and used a rag to to buff off the stain so that it only stayed in the cracks. It knocked all of the colors down a little bit, but it still looked good. After that I polyurethaned it again to give it more shine. I love my palm trees, and the outer part of the circle. I'm not sure how I feel about the rest of it. Over all it looks good and I got to learn some new techniques.
