This project didn't revolve around a specific artist. For this project we had to choose a picture and then we used a projector to project it onto our face. I chose a sunmoon because I really like it and have been inspired by sunmoons for several projects. We had to make a frame and stretch our own canvas. Then we had to get oil paint, linseed oil and paint thinner. Using light yellow oil paint we had to sketch our face. Then I blocked in my colors. This was difficult for me because I'm used to acrylic paint that dries quickly. Oil paint stays wet for a couple of days. It allows you to blend for days, but it isn't very helpful when I tried to do my moon on my face then it was blending with the yellow on my face. It mixed into green. I feel like I would've liked this project more if I didn't have to do a self portrait. Overall I'm happy with how it turned out. In the beginning I thought it would turn out horrible. My art skills have improved because of this project. Now I know how to oil paint, and it showed that I'm getting better at painting faces.
