For this project we used Chuck Chamberlain's artwork for inspiration. He has done ceramic relief and incorporated other medias with the clay. I decided to do a sun moon for my relief. It's something that I have done for many of my art projects, so in a way it tells my art story. I rolled out a slab and made a weird shape so it wasn't just a rectangle. Then I cut out a circle and attached it to the slab. I used a needle tool to draw in the moons face, the flames, and the stars. I carved out the stars in the sun to give it some depth. I glazed the sun moon in the middle to add some contrast. I used gold leaf for the flames and then painted the rest of the flames and the background. I outlined the flames in black paint to make them stand out more and make it pop. I really like how this project turned out and I think that the gold leaf was a nice touch to it.
